DreamHack is proud to announce that, in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, we will host four stops of the StarCraft® II World Championship Series Circuit for the 2017 season. Each championship will feature $100,000 in prize money, online qualification and open signups! StarCraft II fans can be excited to visit DreamHack Austin, DreamHack Summer, DreamHack Valencia and DreamHack Montreal to participate and spectate in WCS 2017!
StarCraft has a long and storied history at DreamHack events, dating back to DreamHack Winter 2010 where Naama barely edged out MaNa to claim the first StarCraft II trophy in Jönköping. Since then, DreamHack events have always been high points of the year for the StarCraft II community, with a total of 30 champions capturing crowns on DreamHack stages! Next year, in addition to stops at DreamHack Austin, Valencia, and Montreal, StarCraft II returns to Jönköping for DreamHack Summer to cement its place in DreamHack’s lofty halls.
Each event will feature a $100,000 prize pool and will have open signups for all who meet the eligibility requirements for WCS Circuit events. Signups will open soon so be sure to stay tuned to DreamHack social media channels and StarCraft2.com/WCS. The winner of the events at Austin, Jönköping, Valencia, and Montreal will earn an automatic berth in the WCS Global Finals to be held at the end of the year, so there’s more on the line than ever before!
To earn a fully paid trip to compete live at DreamHack, each event will have 16 players coming directly from the WCS Challengers, where players from around the world compete on ladder and in tournaments to travel across the globe. Be sure to stay tuned for additional information about Challenger and how to earn your shot!
