Stockholm, Sweden. DreamHack is happy to announce today that DreamHack, the World’s Largest digital festival, and Twitch, the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers, have renewed their partnership for 2017! DreamHack was one of the streaming platform’s earliest partners when it partnered in 2009 with Justin.tv, Twitch’s former parent company.
The renewal of the partnership represents both company’s interests and long term commitments to the esports community, as the partnership is entering its 9th year. Fans of esports will be able to tune into Twitch to watch all of DreamHack’s premium esports content live, including DreamHack ASTRO Open, DreamLeague, DreamHack Masters and the DreamHack Hearthstone Grand Prix circuit.
“It’s not everyday in this space you renew a partnership entering its 9th year,” said Marcus Lindmark, CEO of DreamHack. “We are proud to continue to partner with Twitch, knowing they are as committed to the development of esports and gaming as DreamHack.”
“DreamHack is not only one of our longest running partners, they are immensely popular among the Twitch community,” said Stuart Saw, Director of Esports Strategy, Twitch. “As the esports industry continues to evolve, DreamHack has been at the forefront of the movement with our partnership enabling them to reach a global audience. We look forward to another year of sharing their incredible content with the passionate esports fanbase on Twitch.”
DreamHack will be hosting 11 major events throughout 2017, with the DreamHack Austin coming up next, live from Austin Convention Center on April 28th-30th. DreamHack Austin will feature DreamHack ASTRO Open, WCS Austin, DreamHack Hearthstone Grand Prix, DreamHack Smash Championship, Capcom Tour, and more. Viewers will be able to tune in for all the matches being livestreamed in HD on Twitch for free.
Following DreamHack Austin, much more is on the way including the DreamLeague S07 and DreamLeague S08 in Dota 2 planned for 2017, a whopping 7 stops in the DreamHack Hearthstone Grand Prix circuit, and an additional 8 stops in the DreamHack ASTRO Open CS:GO circuit. In total, well over $2,000,000 USD will be awarded to top esport competitors throughout the year in these properties alone.
Fans of all these titles will be able to catch all the best games live on Twitch. In addition, 2017 DreamHack will be partnering with Twitch on Russian coverage, so fans from more regions than ever will look to Twitch as their exclusive source for DreamHack esports content.
